Default Thoughts/Cost of 2000 s2k Clutch replacement

Hi guys, have had this car since the day they went on sale in sept 2000 and I DONT baby it and drive it hard. Now at 108K miles and I have not replaced the clutch. Anyone had it done, how much at the Honda dealer? Still drives fine which surprises me - does this mean I shouldnt replace it? Have always maintained the car perfectly so appreciate any advice.

thanks,

Ted

I think the regular clutch is fine. I have driven it hard 108K miles since 1999 and have had no problems even driving it hard and fast much of the time. The only thing I havent done is drop the clutch at high rpms which I am guessing is what really hits the clutch and drivetrain hard. Im okay with the stock clutch.

i think the hardtop guy clutch and flywheel kit is a good deal at $1000. with the upgraded clutch, doing launches and driving hard would be a lot funner but im kinda in ur boat too. i have a 2000 at 93,xxx and im gettin ready to switch over to either the hardtop guy package, or the exedy hyper single. if u think ur clutch is still good, but think it slips slightly or just feels a lil soft, try doing the clutch/slave cylinder fluid change.

No reason to change it if you're happy with it and its not slipping.

I agree with not messing with it if it's still working good. To give you an idea of how much a dealer would charge, I had my clutch replaced at a Honda dealership at 40k+ miles. They told me the job normally costs about $1700, but because Honda Care was covering the labor to drop my transmission for some unrelated problem, I only had to pay about $950.

Try and find someone who can get clutches at cost. I'm getting a Competition stage 3 clutch kit at cost (450) due to a hook up

Listen, 108k on your S you will know when its time for a new clutch, forget the # on your dash. When it starts to slip, replace it with what youve had all along- its suited you for that long, why change a thing? When it does go, come back and someone will direct you to somewhere it will be done right! Dont second guess yourself, youve done right this far, you sould be telling me how to drive the S (Ill never get that many mi. out of my clutch!)
