Thoughts on s2000
I've been a fan of the s2000 ever since it came out, but my recent hiring at Nissan North America has found me in a 350z. I drove an 04 today, and I must say it was a night and day difference. I definitely feel like I'm going a lot faster in my Z, but if you check the speedo, the s2000 is going the same speed. I definitely missed the torque in the S, but once I got back into my Z I felt pretty "fat" and heavy. Both are beautiful cars, and more alike than a lot of people think. My $.02
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I test drove the Z and didn't like it as much as I did with my S. It was too fat and bulky and I didn't like the way the set up of the back window. I was having problem seeing the cars behind me during the test drive. The car felt a little sluggish at times and I felt like I was driving a luxury sedan instead of a sportscar. I think I'm gonna keep my S for now.
I've always been a fan of Nissan and Z cars especially but the new car just doesn't do it for me. On paper the performance is there but and I would actually prefer a hardtop car but I just can't get into the looks. Oh well, that's why we have choices. I suppose I should go out and at least drive one though!
I have always loved the Z. As a kid my mom had a 300zx. I am going to take delivery on a MY04 S in a week. That tells you which car I like better. But I must say... My business partner was one of the first in our area to get the Z roadster, so I have driven it and it is no slouch. The car pulls really hard. The handling is nice, not quite as nice as the S. It just so happens that a good buddy of mine has an 04 Z4, and man that thing is sweet!! Looks had to grow on me but performance is SWEET! If I were not going to get the S, it would be my second choice. But all and all the S is just perfect for me.
