Has anyone tried driving both (on the 04/05 AP2 and 06+ dbw) and noticed the differences? All the cars I've owned have been somewhat old, so they all used throttle cables instead of electronic input. I enjoy the precise throttle response, but have not really driven extensively with a DBW system

I was wondering if anyone has tried both throttle types on the AP2's and can give an honest assessment of the differences in terms of pedal feel (responsiveness etc)

 

i have driven both and couldn't tell the difference. i would go 06+ for the extra tuning options

 

I had 2 2000 s2k's and just recently bought an 06, the only thing I notice is the clutch delay valve and lower redline

But after driving an Altima for 2 years who knows what I remember and don't

 

Coming from a dbw MINI to the throttle cable s2000, the throttle felt more responsive in the s2000. However, I haven't driven an 06+ s2000, so Honda's dbw might feel "better" than the MINI's.

 

I own a 00 and an 06 and they feel the same to me. Took off the CDV and got the hondata for the 06 and both cars feel very similar.

 

I've owned an 01 and now an 07. Cannot tell the difference between DBW and non-DBW. I can, however, notice the effect of the clutch delay valve. Just change you driving/shifting style a bit, and it no longer affects me.

well, there is a difference but, you cant really tell. it happens to both cars for different reasons. it's when the throttle hangs at idle around 1500 rpm. i dont know why the my06 does it, it happens to most dbw cars. the pre my06 can be fix with the map wack. it does it on certain occasions, rarely but it does. usuaully no one will notice, but if you ever kick in your clutch rolling to a stop about 50 ft in front of a redlight, it might do it. but other than that, the dbw is really working with vsa, turn off vsa and it will be the same as other years.

 

the only high idle i have is when cold, around 1200 plus or minus...i have both systems, i have a dbw 2004 acura tl 6 sp and my honda which has a cable. the dbw seems slower to respond to pedal input, but not enough to complain about...my honda gets 23-24 mph and the acura gets 24-26, go figure?

 

99.9% of the time I cannot notice a difference between DBW and non-DBW. Feel is about the same. I prefer the DBW just because those years have traction control. Having a throttle cable is nice for blipping when under the hood though. I have yet to perform any maintenance besides from oil and filter, so I don't know what the procedure is for the DBW's.

It may only be in my head, but I think I notice the barely noticable, ever so slightest delay (less than a second) in dropping revs if I do minuscule throttle blips compared to non-DBW. This is the only time, and it is the car sitting in neutral with a ~250 rpm blip. Again, it may just be my head.
