Ti vs Al knobs
I've done a bunch of searches and read a plethera of threads relating to the voodoo knob but couldn't find any directly relating to this. Do any of you have experience with both an Al and Ti voodoo knob? Would you say it's worth the extra $$ to go for the Ti? Does the weight difference have that much of an effect? If someone had the stock knob and switched to the Ti knob from Honda, did that change make a big difference. Anyone who can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance...
Well, I only have the Ti. I like the heft of Ti over Al. Also because Ti is denser I think it would be slower to heat up on a hot day. Although I am no physicist.
I was surprised how heavy the stock knob is - about the same weight as the Ti. A Voodoo Al may be too light - but cheaper!

I have the Al VooDoo, and the stock MY02 knob was heavier, and I miss that. I opt'ed for the AL to see if I liked the feel of the VooDoo, and I will be changing to a Ti soon. The Al does get hot, even with the car losed up and tinted windows. I am hoping the the Ti will be better with the heat.

Very nice! With luck I can help you get out of your quagmire.IMHO the perfect solution is what I have, the Aluminum Magnum Voodoo.
I believe aluminum dissipates heat faster than titanium. The larger size Magnum fits better in the hand and the increased size gives it the weight the normal aluminum Voodoo does not have. Let alone the cost is more friendly than titanium, and the engraving Rick does on the bigger Magnum model is just plain outstanding!!!
Don't have a Voodoo knob or even an S2K yet, but I do have a Ti knob in my S4. The S4 shifter is somewhat clunky from the factory and the throws are ubsurdly long. I put a short shifter in which improved the throws but it was still cluncky. I added a heavy Ti knob and did see a litte improvement in the smoothness of the shits. I wouldn't say that it is not dramatic but improved none the less. The knob gets very hot when left all day in the sun. On the days when it's sunny and it sits in the parking lot all day, it will just about burn your hand when you first get in.
The Muz Aluminium shift knobs are nearly 2" in diameter and weigh 178 grams (28 grams more than stock). They are a cost effective alternative to uneccessarily expensive Ti knobs. You need only go so much heavier to achieve the desired effect of 'extra heft' when shifting. IMHO it becomes futile to go over a certain weight (or price) when creating these things.

The knobs are countersunk as far as possible and sit very low on your shifter....

I bought the Ti Voodoo after not being satisfied with the Spun Al knob. I felt that the Al one that weighed less than stock made shifting way too notchy in my MY '02. I love the weight of the Ti knob though, and it matches well with the brushed Aluminum bits in the 02.
I don't know if it was well worth the difference, but I won't go back.

I had both. Started out with the Al. Spent the extra $ for the Ti. On my '02 car, I went back to Al.
The added heft doesn't necessarily lead to smoother shifts. In terms of feel, it thuds more than it snicks with the Ti if that makes any sense.
It's very much based on what you prefer. I like the slightly lighter, quicker feel of the Al than the Ti.
And, Muz, you are a hard working man. I like you. Friends?
