ticketed for engine sound!
my brother (17, spoiled) was driving the stook last night, and was ticketed by a cop because the car's "engine sounded like he was going too fast. the cop had no other proof of his speed (no radar/laser/pacing/etc).
little did the cop know that my dad owns a law firm, full of little lawyer henchmen that will throw that cop on the stand and cross-examine him somethin' fierce!
ah, kindred to be an american.

I always wonder about this...
when a police pulled you over.. and tell you that you were speeding, and he said he got the speed by radar.... but when you ask that you wanna see the number he detected by radar... and he doesn't have it on the radar... but tell you he is very experienced on this.!! what should you do??

i'll tell you exaclty what you do.
you go home, and within 24 hours you demand that the cop write up an affidavit about the incident.
if he doesn't do that within 2 days, your ticket is thrown out.
(do that no matter what)
then you go to court, and you very politely ask the cop to prove how fast you were going.
if he says anything other than "i have proof right here", you get out of the ticket.

Sounds like total chickenshit to me...there's no way in hell this ticket could stand up in court. IMO, even if you didn't have the cop file an affidavit, it would be thrown out by the court.
What lunacy.
If you had a different exhaust, then MAYBE...but this is crap. I can't imagine that it would stick if you fight it...
Good luck to your brother!

This'll be an easy one to get thrown out.
