Time differences top-up and top-down
What are the different times like with regards to having the top-up and top-down with the S2000?
We had a fun-day down at the local track, and I ended up next to an exact colored S2000 (silverstone), my top was down, his was up... and he seriously killed me, by almost 2 car lengths over 1km... this is straight line driving only.
I have a K&N Performance filter, everything else is stock... I didn't get to ask him what he was running, so I was wondering how much difference the top-up/down makes.
Also, a bit of topic, how much difference does a supercharger make to times?
Looking for 0-60, 0-100, quartermile, etc.
Thanks... P.S nothing wrong with my pull-away or shifting, everything went smoothly.

Never really though about i but technically you'll have more drag and therefore you'll be slower.....if it was in the turns though you have a lower CG, technically, and should be faster.....either way it'll be negligible and he prolly had a few mods under the bonnet

Yes, there is more drag with the top being down, but I would think in a standard 1/8 to 1/4 mile drag race, the difference would be negligible. The differences mostly stand out when you're trying to do a top speed run/highway run or something similar.
I would venture to say that the difference of "almost 2 car lengths over 1km" is due to slight driver differences. One slow shift or something in that short of a distance will results in something exactly like you're describing.

yeah yes has been tested in something like a gas mileage test, top up and top down. people with top up had better gas mileage and the the top down has lower gas mileage. they said it was because of the drag. so if i had to guess, then yes the top down would be slower. but i would guess not by much because i have talked to ppl who have be 150 mph with top down.

Pretty sure it wasn't driver differences
I actually pulled away and was two cars ahead of him (which I think was deliberate) - he caught me - and finished two cars ahead of me.
Funny thing is, you can hear my car because of the K&N FIPK - but I couldn't hear his car at all.
