When I press lock once I hear the locks click. If press it a second time, nothing. But if I press it a third it honks.
When i press unlock once my door unlocks, if I press a second time the interior light goes off, if I press it a third time then the passenger door unlocks.
This doesnt match my owners manual....

 

i'm pretty sure for mine it goes like this:

lock button
-1x lock
-2x lock + honk
anymore presses = more honking

unlock
-1x unlock driver
-2x unlock both
never noticed anything with the light though and don't really recall paying attention to a third press

my map light turns on when the unlock button is pressed the first time and unlocks the driver door.

 

I think you're just pressing it too fast. It's actually 2 clicks for the honk, and 2 clicks to unlock the pass. side.

This sounds likely to me. It just sounds like the second press isn't registering for whatever reason.

But, yeah, I think you're just pressing it too quickly.
