Default Tire pressure

About how much pressure does a tire lose over a months time. My S mostly sat in the garage for two and a half winter months. In that period I only put about 250 miles on the car. I had the tires at 34 psi (cold) at the beginning of this period, now they're at about 30 psi (cold). Is that a reasonable amout of pressure for the tires to have lost in that time/use period?

yes that is normal, especially in colder temps. losing 1-2 psi is normal per month.

I thought it might be a bit excessive. Thanks.

I've liked the way the car felt with 34 psi.

Pressure will also change with temperature. A change of about 1 PSI with every 10F difference is normal, and tire heating due to solar gain as well as driving will change pressure.. so sometimes the pressure is lower just because it is colder.

If I am understanding you correctly, you mean that when the tires are cold, the difference in outdoor temperature from 40*F to 60*F will result in a 2 psi difference in tire pressure?

I didn't know it was that drastic.

When we transition from summer into winter, I'm pumping air into the tires of both cars to maintain the correct pressure. When we transition back into spring/summer, I have to let some out. The difference in pressure when it's +30*C to when it's -30*C can be dramatic.

Xviper

I was just thinking about you. I was thinking of posting a thread to cthree asking for a forum called "Xviper's Corner". This would be the perfect place to put all of the great diy threads that you've posted, and the ones still to come. I think it would be great to have all of these in one place. If you wanted, you could expand it to include diy or informational threads by others.

You of course would moderate.

I think this would be a great service to the entire S2000 community.

What do you think?
