Has anyone experimented with tire on the Bridgestones. Honda manual recommends 32 psi. I did not like the ride or the traction when warm. Tires say 42psi max rating. running 39. Much better road feel and better handling. Any comments?

I accidentally inflated mine to 40 psi (inaccurate tire gauge). After 3 hrs of driving on the interstate, the right rear tire blew. DOH, too much! I now set mine at 33 lbs cold for the street. Don't think I would go much above that unless you're at the track

I have found that with hard driving the pressure increases up to five pounds (at least it does in the Texas heat) so starting at 39 gives too much pressure after a lap or so. I think that 40psi when very hot is about as high as I want to go so I have used 35 cold as a max.

I rember running 39 in the rear and 41 in the fronts when autox'ing a mustang ages ago before I knew what real handling was about.

it handles more predictable, definately, but the lower pressure, 32, gives a little more grip and traction to my tastes.

Lots of Lincoln's and Caddy's are set at 28 or 29 out of the box - its to keep the ride softer.

Risks of running tires at 38+? I'd say not much, but that's just in my experience.

I like the handling at the track with the tires set at 33 front and 34 rear. Anything over that and we started loosing grip. Remember that our temps over here rarely go below 85 during the day.

For street driving I set them at 32 all around.

32 cold all around. Unless you are going to track it or autocross where you are afraid of rolling onto the sidewall the factory recommendation will handle the best IMHO.

Nah Beig, never afraid of that. Lean motorcycles over to far and go to fast for that. Just curious. The feedback through the car was much better. Just curious if someone found an optimal setting. By the sound of it so far it seems more personal than technical.

Cheers! Happy Holiday!

Hey people-

We started with a cold pressure of 39psi front, 34psi rear, and varied it slightly from there. I had the fastest laptimes based on those cold pressures at GingerMan Raceway. I think the hot pressures were about 44psi front, 38psi rear. I ended up not even going back to 32psi afterwards- the car's more predictable to drive, but of course it's harsher...

The stock tires have some pretty flexible sidewalls relative to race tires.

I run mine at 37 front and 35 rear (cold).

I don't think inflating them to 39 cold will cause them to blow either. Max pressure indicated on the sidewall is max cold not max hot.
