Nah Beig, never afraid of that. Lean motorcycles over to far and go to fast for that.
No I was serious. In Autocross on technoque for setting up the tire pressure is to chalk (or white shoe polish) the sidewalls in a couple of places and then run a lap. If any of the chalk is wiped off then the tire is "rolling over" onto the side wall and you need to increase the pressure. Generally the lowest pressure you can run without wiping off any chalk is optimum traction for that tire.

Whether you have the car ballance you want (over/under steer) is another story.

With the SmartTire system, I now can monitor tire pressures all the time. One of the things I noticed right off is that the tire pressures rise about 4 lbs from cold start within only a few minutes and appear to stabalize there. And that's been in 30-40 degree weather. This, I should note, has been with the Michelin Alpins.

When it's hotter, I'm sure the pressure will increase even more. So, in other words, there won't be a lot of ceiling left to the max recommended by Bridgestone, if they behave similarly to the Alpins.

For street driving, I would stick to the recommended pressures.

Bieg, I know you were serious. I really appreciate the info, primarily because I haven't been able to autocross the car. Asking question is the only way to learn. Sometimes, it can sure save you some long term heartache. I really appreciate the info from all of you.

Rick, the only time I would be really be concerned about tire pressure, is when it get to be in the 100's which it does here for most of the summer. I was wondering what the unit was I saw in the picture of your S2000.

Most of my experience comes from motorcycle setup and racing not automobile.
