Default Tire Pressure Gauge

I bought one of those cheapo $1 tire pressure gauges from Pepboys a while back. Something that looks like:

What I've noticed is that compared to the gauges at the gas stations, the $1 one is usually 2-4 psi lower on the readings. which one should I trust more? Don't wanna overinflate my tires.

thanks!

I have one of those $1 gauges from Autozone too. Mine reads about 3psi lower.

I guess you can try to memorize how much it's lower from the actual psi and use it like that? That's what I do.

I can't justify spending $50-100+ on a tire gauge with an angle chuck and bleeder valves.

How exactly would the OP determine actual PSI? Gas station gauges are notoriously off.

Find someone who has purchased a more precise gauge and use it to get a base reading on how much error your cheap guage has. Or just get a better guage...

i have the standard chrome looking one. tested it out with various types and was almost the same psi with the rest.

fyi, driving with low psi in the rear is scary pulls every where when going threw gears.

Amazing, you own a 30K sports car and you can't jusity spending money to purchase a decent tire pressure gauge? Tires are the most critical thing between you and the road and your going to depend on a $1.00 gauge, LMAO. You guys don't deserve to own an S2K with this kind of mentality.

Also, the answer to the quick noob question can be found where all car manufacturers place a label to indicate the correct pressure to inflate the tires to.

I dont understand what makes a 180$ one that much better than say a 20$ one. Its not like tire pressure is some exotic measurement.

which one would you suggest? i read their buying faq... but just curious what everyone else is buying. i've been wanting one of these for a while.

also, it seems like you're not supposed to leave these with you in the car? i'd hate to spend $100 on one only to find out i screwed the measuements up by taking it with me in the car.
