Bridgestones S04s were (past tense) very good tires. Max performance summer tires. (2d tier but barely out of the Extreme performance range.) Extreme, Max, Ultra are the levels of summer tires. All Seasons rank below them all. How old are these, mine aged-out over a year ago (7 years).

"Good All Seasons" (should be an oxymoron on the S2000) exist, of course, but they're not good in any performance way. All Seasons are at best 4th Tier -- curious why you want non performance tires on a sports car especially how few miles you seem to drive this car.

The Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 is well regarded here. Ultra High performance summer (3d tier) a slight downgrade from your SO4s. I went back up to top tier Bridgestone RE-71RS in CR size (255 rears).

Chuck - unfortunately my set of S04s have not held up well. On the car for about 5 - 6 yrs. and maybe 3 to 4 k on the tread.
They've been cracking all over, side, outer and inner tread. Very disappointed to say the least. Only reason I mentioned all seasons was my mechanic suggested them. Apparently he's not aware of how I drive my car. So nix on the ASs and yes on hi performance.
Which ones I don't know????

My 2007 has been riding on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for the last two years. I like them. Good road feel and tire wear.

what is your goal for your car? what is lowest average temperature in your area?

why one would consider an "all season" tire is beyond me. If you plan to drive in the winter (temps < 4C), then separate winter and separate summer tires is preferable. Understand there are limitations to tire selection- don't expect to extract the best handling of the car or drive beyond the limits of lesser tires.

I have tried all manner of tires in the 200-340 UTQG range, I autocross my car and drive it exclusively in the summer months (may to October). RT660, RE-71 RS are excellent 200 UTQG tires. Firehawk 500 or for a number of $ more, Continental Extreme contact sport are really decent 340 UTQG. I would never consider anything higher that 340 UTQG.

goodluck

Surprised your SO4s didn't age well. What's the build date on the tires themselves?

Tire Rack is an excellent source to compare tires. And, since Discount Tire owns Tire Rack you can get the same tires -- and same prices -- there although the Discount Tire guys may need to search their system for some of them. And, as I noted earlier, consider "CR" spec. The 255mm rear tires really look good on this car. Yeah, Bling.

Several things:

This car doesn't like floppy sidewalls. Handling gets wonky with all seasons. It'll deteriorate handling to below what a family car with same all season tires would.

So not only do you want a summer performance tire, you specifically want to choose one that has stiff sidewalls.

Every tire in the Extreme Performance summer category has very stiff sidewalls. So any of those work great. But they're a compromise of you don need their level of performance. Noisy. Not great in rain. Kick up rocks onto paint.

A good choice is a max performance tire that has stiff sidewalls. That exactly describes your old S04s. If a tire has double ply sidewall, or if reviews site its firm ride and immediate steering response, that tells you stiff sidewalls.

A lot of performance tires try to soften sidewall while still offering outstanding performance. Some succeed very well. These are great choices for someone's bmw. Not the best choice for an S. It needs those sidewalls more than it needs best outright traction.

The Bridgestone Potenza Sport is probably closest match to S04. Its basically that tires replacement. The Firehawk 500 also does well on our cars bc of its stiff sidewalls.

Lastly, the reason your S04s cracked was bc you didn't drive often enough.

The outer layers of rubber will evaporate their natural oils. Rhis leads to dry eot cracking. But driving causes centripetal forces that push fresh oil to tires surface. The heat that occurs assists this process. Flings it out to tires surface. This prevents dry rot, cracking.

Tires that sit in warm environment, or worse, sun with its uv, exacerbate this evaporation.

Failing to drive enough results in dry rot.

This is gonna happen with any tire, but, not surprisingly, happens faster with higher performance tires. Summer tires, etc.

Similar concept with other rubber like coolant hoses, vacuum, etc. Dry rot if not used enough.

Drive your car more!

Had the Michelin PS4. Was O.K. At the moment the Bridgestone Potenza Sport is on the car. Love it. Important, they are crazy good in the wet. But they are gone fast.
How on earth could somebody reccomend all seson tyres for this car?

Here is a good Website wich has a lot of information and tests from Europe. https://www.tyrereviews.com/

It never rains in California so summer extreme are the way to go. My pilot 4Ss have astonished me with how long they are going. No problems noted when I drive to Nevada and it rains. Forget snow and ice. Will buy them again as they are aging out.

Apparently Michelin are no longer making the PS4S for our wheel sizes. You have to get them while they are still in stock at shops or distributors. I can't find the threat where I was commenting on it and was told this.
