Default Tire spinning

Just wondering how easy it is to spin the tires on the S2000. I don't have one yet, but I've driven RWD cars before. Its fun to throw the tail out sometimes, but can the S2000 do it with such low torque?

Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing. Have on 2300 mi and I've been kind during break - in. I've heard the 5.4 0 - 60 claim involves a 7k RPM clutch drop. Not sure it's worth the abuse. Any comments?

I've also heard that about the 0-60 time. One magazine said "Don't expect to achieve a 5.4sec 0-60 often, unless you want to be on a first name basis with your parts dealer."

Spinning the tires is not a problem as long as you keep the RPM's high enough.

Depends on how you want to do it - straight line, you'd need to sidestep the clutch at a high enough RPM, thereby running the risk of doing some damage to the drivetrain or causing premature clutch wear. Donuts are another story - turn the wheel while rolling in first and blip the throttle. The ass end slides right out and will keep chewing up the tires as long as you want. The only downside to spinning around like mad is that you're eating up tires.

Can somebody detail some of the changes Honda incorporated into the car for 2002? I heard a beefier rearend and stouter clutch. Is this true?

It's pretty easy to spin the tires. You just have to keep the RPMs up but be ready to spend money on new tires.

More specifically, you should be careful when your RPM's are high and you downshift during a turn. If you upset the balance of the car too much, around you will go.
