Which Tires?
AaronS2K gave the toyo's the thumbs up in another thread I started. That is what I am getting, but I won't have them until next week (I hope!). I can give you first impressions if you are going to wait that long before buying.
I have talked to someone locally that considers the toyo's to be in the same class as the s-02s and michelin pilot sports. He has also used them and likes them (he is not an S2K owner, though).

JiggaTaOG,
Go for the T1-S. I have been looking around for a better tire...but no luck yet.
One of the factors I look for in a tire is weight.
The T1-S are light wieght compared to other brands.
255/35/18
T1-S = 23.8 lbs.
Supra 712 = 28-29 lbs. (I returned these after I weighed these at home)
S02-Pole Position = 28
Sport 9000 = 24.8

Have the Nitto NT555's now.
Tread life is much better than the P-Zero's(Rosso)I had (also available in the sizes you specified).
Grip is good, but they get noisy.
When heated up, they are real noisy.
If you want long tread life and a lower price, go for it.
If you want suporior handling, and a nice smooth ride, look elsewhere.

Some folks like the T1-S and some don't. I have heard people describe them as inferior to their predecessors in terms of dry handling. Sort of like the Dunlop 8000 versus 9000. The 9000 gives up a bit in the dry to gain a bit in the wet. Which is great if that is what you want but stinks other wise. They have a much higher treadwear rating than many competitive tires and are supposed to be loud under hard cornering. Here are some comments from some street touring autocrossers in today's emails - Stan.
--------------------------------------------------------
..>>>I ran both tires on my Subaru. The T1-s was an OK tire but made a whole lot of noise on the course. It was constantly howling. They lasted quit a while though. My AVSi's were grippier, and made less noise. But they wore out very fast. I autocrossed on them for about 10 events and they were toast.<<<
>>>I disliked them enough to take Toyo up on its 500-mile money-back offer,
although the tire distributor has lost all record of the tires, so I'm out
$600 for tires I ran two autocrosses with. I had 215/40ZR16 tires on 16 x 7
rims. I believe David Benson wore out a set on his Impreza. From what I remember,
he didn't like them either, although they'd be a great "raining cats & dogs"
rain tire, the tread being mostly voids. How well they're going to work on the upcoming Speedvision World Cup cars is a great question.<<<

just want to calibrate the posts I am reading:
most of the replies to JiggaTaOG's original post seem to come in the context of using the tires in competition, which is perhaps what JiggaTaOG will be doing.
I have already committed to buying the toyos, but am still interested in other people's impressions. Unfortunately, I will probably not have the time to get into any kind of sanctioned competitions any time soon. Would anybody's comments be different if we were only talking about street use?
