Default Tires.....Again

Ok, Ok I know that tires have been discussed in detail many, many times but after following and searching all the threads, I still don't know which ones to get. I only need to replace by rears so I need tires that will work with the S02s in the front.

Here is my scenario.....any recommendations would be great because when it comes to tire brands, size, etc. I am totally lost.

I live in LA and use the S2K as my daily driver. I don't push the car that that hard. (To give you an idea, I have almost 27,000 miles on my original tires.) I have had great luck with the S02s but would like to find a tire that is a little less expensive (if possible). It seems like the consensus is that the S02s are by far the best and most people seem happy with the Michelin Pilot Sports, beyond that I am at a complete loss as to which tires to get.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not going to tell you what to get but I will say this; You get what you pay for. Michelin makes some great tires though...

bjl,

Seems to me that you get great milage out of a kick ass tire...so just go with the S02's bud!

But, if you are determined to save $$$, and don't care all that much about performance...just go with some 245/45/16 Bridgestone RE730's ($123).

RE730's are a long lasting, decent performing, good in wet weather tire. If you are worried about looks, the 245/45/16 RE730 has a similar tread width as the 225/50/16 stock S02. You don't want to get a 225/50/16 size other than the S02, because the tire will look skinny.

If you want decent cheap tires I recommend Dunlop SP8000's (or 9000's when 8000 inventory is finished). Should be right around $100 each. The Michelin's you mention are very good tires but they are NOT cheap.

You got amazing mileage out of your SO2's. Seems to me that is the cheap solution for you (stay with SO2's). What prices have you found locally?

I JUST got the Dunlop Sport SP 9000's from America's Tire Co. for 677.82 out the door...

In comparison to the s0-2s? they kinda suck...
But with my 120mi/day commute, I was looking for a little longer tread wear, since I only got 16,000 out of the s0-2's

I think after the tires 'break in' they will be okay, but for now they squeal like a red-headed stepchild...

I put RE730's in the back like suggeted above and am happy with them. GREAT in the rain.
When the fronts wear out I'll get RE730 for front too!

well, I heard the Yokohoma AVS sport is a very good tire... and... fair price... I think maybe you wanna go with it....

if you wanna have almost equal rating at the dry/wet condition...and longer life time... maybe S-03PP is the tire you wanna go with!! But S-02 is still the best tire for dry condition road for me..! but still, they ain't cheap!
