Default Tires came crashing down on car...

well, the law of averages finally kicked in - had my first bit of damage to the car.

a pile of tires - 8 snows and 4 stock S2K tires (mounted on wheels) came crashing down on the car.

no idea how it happened - could be from the vibration of opening and closing garage door over time. i never noticed whether the pile had started leaning...

anyway, damage is extensive:

1. hood has dents all over and the passenger side strut tower has almost poked through the hood. hood has popped up on drivers side (i can stick a finger between hood and bumper though the hood is latched closed)
2. scratch on A-pillar (windshield tape removed)
3. license plate bracket broken.
4. passenger side door was surface scratched, but i was able to wax it out.
5. scratches on front bumper. again, i was able to wax out most of it but there is one big abrasion that won't go away.
6. front lip cracked on drivers side.

the worst part is that it wouldn't have been that bad except that the stock tires and wheels were piled on the top and just tires were on the bottom. hence the weight of wheels and tires caused all of this.

i couldn't believe it, i open the door and all i see are tires and wheels everywhere - there was a wheel on the hood, one against the windshield, one near the license pate, one had rolled down the passenger side door and some other tires were strewn about randomly.

for the love of god, do not pile tires near your car - or don't be as stupid as me and pile 12 of them in one pile.

i guess i have no one to blame but myself.

shit, this is going to be pricey...

i'll keep you posted on cost of repair.

Check to see if perhaps your homeowner's insurance might cover such an accident. Take heart, because it was only an accident, and no one was injured. Sorry for your loss.

This should be covered by the comprehensive part of your auto insurance.
