today's trend in modding
i understand all your points here...
but not everyone mod their cars for performance. did it ever occur to you that car modding is also a "style" statement? or that people who drive their car on the street only don't care too much about performance mods that they can't even use fully, so why spend $$ on it.. while visually you see the difference, hence the mods. i don't hate roof racks and neon lights and etc... do i like them? no. but if they want it on their car, why not?
if you want to use your s2k to carry bikes, pull trailers, track it, show queen, dd, snowmobile, garage baby, whatevers.... do it. haters gonna hate.
isn't this why "to each their own" statement come true? and yes, people can build a car "right" and "wrong" to the general public acceptance but if everything was within that box limit, i think the aftermarket/tuning scene would be boring and colorless. so i just like to embrace whatever tuning industry/market comes up... just take it as it is and don't stress about what another dude does to his ride. in other words, i rather have what we have now than nothing at all.
im just saying im not for negativity and thrashing other people's rides. would i give them my opinion? only if they ask...
for the first op post... the trend i see (majority) is for form > function and purchasing used/non-jdm/high $ parts.. as we all like to be cost effective.

I too hate the Honda scene, because of posts like this.
I think modding has gotten much better over the last two years, EXCEPT for the whole hellaflush thing
. It seems a lot of cars are now modded [externally] with a "OEM w/ flare" type mindset; which is something I can get behind after the decade of whale tails and obnoxious body kits. The whole EF/EG/DA "Rat rod" look has got to go though

I am an avid biker and see no issue with the bike racks. I plan on putting a hitch on my CR so I can have a bike rack on the back of it, also for a small tire trailer. Maybe a portion of the bike rack theme is due to cost. Economy is coming up but not quick... Let's face it a decently fast Mt. Bike can be had for under $5k. How much does $5k get you in the car world??? No matter what people do with their cars someone thinks it's the worst thing in the world. Without diversity there is no tuning world.
I paid $5,399 for my Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle brand new! It's more fun and just as fast as a $100,000 car.
Are mountain bikes these days made from titanium and carbon fiber to shed 10 lbs? This is almost like ricing a car...spending a fortune to go 1% faster.
