Default Tonneau Trouble!!!

Hello Guys and Gals,

Is it me or does the tonneau take too much effort to put on? I have tried putting it on and leaving the car in the sun for a couple of hours to try to mold it on but, it just takes way too much effort to secure those buttons on. Any suggestions?

Keep practicing!

It's winter here now, but in summer I got pretty good at it!

I do the elastic first, then get all the eyelets close to their holes before actually clipping them on.

Note there is a TSB about this, where the hoods on some cars aren't adjusted properly and do not fold down far enough

Hmm, I know this isn't going to be helpful to anyone, but I put my boot cover on in about a minute the very first time... No problems, stretching, molding, whatever, it just went on. Hmm, maybe this will help - it was a brand new cover, ordered from Honda because the original owner of my S2K didn't sell it with her car. Perhaps they've made some changes?

It takes me maybe 1-2 minutes to do mine. Used to take 5 or so (and a lot of frustration!) till the local Honda dealer adjusted the stops on the convertable top.

Used to have the covers back edge pop up every time I drove. Since they have adjusted the stops, it stays down, and is easy to get on.

I agree with bmoyes.... do the elastic on one side, then start doing the buttons from that side.

Can anyone point me to the TSB on adjusting the stops for the convertible top at it's up and down positions?

I used my 1st one a few times with no problems. My second one has been perfect, it's still in the plastic it came in and has never been on the car.

It was six months before I got mine on easily. The top didn't retract far enough to fully expose the posts. Then, one hot May day, I put the top down and, to my amazement, the posts were exposed and it was a piece of cake.

If the top doesn't retract enough to fully expose your posts, try using your hand to add force to the retracting top.

Now mine goes off or on in a minute if the top goes down properly.

Just an idea.

I'm with Barry. I had a lot of trouble putting on the tonneau when I first got the car, but after a few practices, now it goes on very easily.

I also push down the top further once it's retracted, so the tonneau will fit better. And I have never had the back of tonneau popped up on me while driving.

Like bmoyes, I also do the elastic first and I think that makes the whole thing much easier.

Don't push down too much... just take your car into Honda, and ask them to get ahold of Honda's tech line, and they should be able to take care of it!!

When I first got my car - the cover was a PAIN. However, with practice it comes very easy now, plus I guess the cover has softened up and is much more pliable and that also makes it easier.
