Unhappy Too many S2000s?

Have been looking around for both new and used S2000s (used ones on the net, in particular eBay). It certainly looks like eBay motors's being flood up by quite a number of S2000 auctions ending without any winners at the end (well, some do have insane reserves, but for the most part the prices weren't too bad). Most of the end prices (for auctions with successful buyers) aren't even particularly high either (given that the car was kept in reasonably good condition -- not superb I must say).

Are there too many S2000s out there that the 2nd hand market is just being crushed (i.e. it's actually advantageous to be the buyer of a second hand instead of the seller as the supply is abundant)? Or is it because there are only a few colors out there and a lot of them end up looking the same when people strip them back to bone stock when selling them?

Anyway, tried to dig around the archives but didn't find anything like this (most were dealing with ... should I get a pre-04 or 04/05?) Let me know if this is a re-post ...

Thanks.

I think there are some folks on ebay with high-ball prices for their S2Ks, hoping for a miracle. Maybe that and the lease returns from people who got them a few summers ago are just ending. May a glut will drive the prices down so you can get two.

seen some crazy reserves on Ebay lately.. and on some private sales too. I'm thinking people need to fuel that crack addiction or something- gosh. There are bargains to be found though- just have to look

Most people I know refuse to buy anything from the internet, and are especially wary of e-bay. Don't think internet auctions are a good indicator of demand for used cars.

where do you live??? i see tons of S2000's on sale for reasonable prices near San Francisco, CA .... now if you're looking for a MY02 GPW/red then it gets hard, but if you want a black or silverstone, tons of those around .

I live in New York City. Ultimately I will go to local dealers to find one (just feel much better when you can at least look at the real car and listen to any weird sounds from the engine/tranmissions/rattles).

Was hoping to ue eBay as a benchmark to check out the prices, I guess afterall it's a poor indication of it. Typically kbb is pretty good at looking at used car prices, but kinda wanted to double check with the market prices. Oh wellz ..

Who cares about the 2nd hand market? Its a car, you buy it to drive it, not buy it and then sell it.

As for the eBay thing, who actually does buy a car from an auction on ebay? I know I would never.
