Default Took my car to the strip

Yes, yes I know our car isn't made for the strip, but I just wanted to check it out once and see how I could do. It was about 80 degrees out, at Gateway Int'l Raceway...here were the results:

1st run:
60' 2.224
330' 6.185
1/8 9.563
1/4 14.860
MPH 92.43

This run I missed the 2-3, and launched around 7k and bogged to about 5k.

2nd run:
60' 2.354
330' 6.450
1/8 9.739
1/4 14.958
MPH 93.52

This run I wasn't quite ready and launched at 6.5, and bogged badly to about 4.5k.

3rd run:
60' 2.408
330 6.285
1/8 9.488
1/4 14.602
MPH 95.25

I got too much wheelspin after an 8k launch, so that's why my 60' time was that slow. All in all I was satisfied, considering I had never dumped the clutch before. I also have a newfound respect for Sev...I have no idea how he pulled a 13.8!

At least you tried.
My hobby is looking at trackslips, though I have never been to the track...my car has been though.
Do you plan returning to try for a time closer to what the mags got?

How many miles you have on your Stook? I could easily run those numbers in ITR. I haven't tried dragging my S2K yet...but i'm anxious to find out how fast it'll be. If anything, this car will be hell of a lot easier to launch than any FWD car i've owned. I'm expecting good 60 foot times.

I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon, simply because I don't want to abuse my clutch too much. My car has about 3000 miles on the clock, so I guess it's not completely broken in yet. I know my times weren't exactly impressive, but like I said it was my first time ever trying it. I'm quite confident that if I got a good launch without spinning the tires too much (it was tougher than I thought it would be), I could do better.

Visitor, I didn't take any offense. Basically, I just wanted to see how much fun it would be to do it, and I thought it was a blast. However, that being said, I would like my clutch to last a reasonably long time, so it's only a one time thing. Well...maybe twice...

You need to learn how to drive your car!
Excuse my language, I'm not here to flame you but help.
Your time is close to what a stock Type-R (195hp) would run.
A regular driver would hit low 14s on a S2000. I've seen many
that hit low 14s and some high 13s and also seen people that can't
even break the 15 sec on a S2000!

Doing 8k launch will not only break your rear end (LSD) but also
spinning your tire all the way till u shift into 2nd. Try 6-7k. You're
getting 2.3-2.4 60ft time, that's that most FWD (civics and integras) are getting
with simple bolt-ons. A stook should get 2.0-2.1 with a good launch.

My frist time at the strip was not so good but not bad. My best was
14.24 and my 60ft time was 2.1x, and I did 14.2x several times. I'm
sure you can do better than you. Keep on practicing.

I feel really sad when I see a stook at the strip running 15 sec pass.
It does happen. This car is suppose to run high 13s.

No offense, but you really need to work on launching your car. Your 60 foot times are horrible!! that's the only reason why you're running mid to high 14's.

Your car definitely ran stronger and stronger though. Almost a 3mph trap speed difference between your first run and your third. That's quite a big difference!

I know my 60' times were pretty pathetic, but I attribute that to my inexperience. My shifts were fine (except for the missed one), and like I said before my first run I had never ever dropped the clutch on this car. I just wanted to gauge how good/bad of a driver I am when it comes to straight line speed.

Give Jay a break. Like he said, he's just learning how to launch his car. Even for experienced drivers (draggers) it can be a little difficult at times. Besides, he hasn't fully broken in the engine yet. Remember...more mileage you put on this puppy...the stronger it gets. Hey, at least Jay didn't run 15's.
