Default top cover for top-up parking

Ok, my S2000 will be parked outdoors and I want some protection for the vinyl top and interior.

I'm against car covers, as they scratch the paint - no matter how careful you are, and take too long to put on (at work, anyway). I don't feel the paint needs any extra protection anyway - that's what I use Zaino for...

So, here's the ideal scenario: A car cover that only covers the top! From the bottom of the windshield to the bottom of the top (at the rear) and from the bottom of one side window to the bottom of the other - you get the idea. Anyone seen anything like this? I can probably try to make one, but it'd be so much easier to buy... My only questions would be regarding attachment, it needs to be quick enough to use whenever I park.

I did do a search here, but all I got were hits for the cover used when the top is down...

Thanks!

I've seen some car covers that are pretty damm plush inside. You may have to spend a few bucks for one,but worth it IMO.

flyin wedge: It's not actually the cover that will scratch the paint, it's the cover moving the dirt/dust around on the paint...

HI REVN: That's exactly it!

Anyone know where to get this? The second image is what I mean.

Do US dealers stock these?

I use a windshield reflector (heatshield at H & A) that fits perfectly. I park into the sun and pop it up. For the top, 303 protectant with 100% UV blocking. And the interior also UV blocking treatments for leather and vinyl. With proper chemical treatments, the top will outlast the rest of the car. The 303 needs to be re-applied every five weeks or so. She's a year old this week, never seen the inside of a garage, and the top looks better than when I got it.

I will definitely be hitting the top and interior with 303. BUT, if I could find a cover like the one in the pic, I would definitely use it when parking for more than a few hours...

I agree that 303 provides a high level of protection, but nothing protects better that both 303 and an actual physical barrier.

Doesn't anyone know where to buy one of these half-covers?

Thanks!

I have the exact cover that you are looking for. It's called a cockpit cover and I bought mine from Covercraft. I actually bought mine from a sponsor of thios board that no longer exists. It costs me about $70.

I did the same as MarkS2K. I've yet to use it though.

Thanks for the replies Mark and Dario; but I didn't see the cover at that site - just one to use when parking with the top down; I a trusting person, but not trusting enough to park with the top down...

Does Covercraft make on like in the pic, and just not show it on their site? Any ideas on a part number?

Thanks!
