Well for me i can't put a top up either way so inless the weather looks perfect and i check the radar i don't take the top off. But it does sound like fun to drive top off in the rain
Ive been caught in the rain.... twice.

and with above post. Driving 70-80 in rain isnt exactly the best thing to be doing in the S. Be safe out there.

Windows 7/8 up.

If its raining hard enough, you will get wet no matter how fast you go.

I've been caught under a rain cloud a few times actually and just drove it out. Fortunately, it wasn't a downpour type but not light either. I noticed going anything above 60mph I did not feel a single drop or even see any rain on the interior. It was only when I drop down to 50mph or under that I could feel it.

My guess why drive in the rain with the top down point blank. Just does not sound like a good idea to me at all
you're missing out. not only is it fun, you get a ton of funny looks from people.

i've had the same problem with it running off the back of the windows when they're up, or spraying up over the top side of the windshield if the window is down. that was only in VERY heavy rain though. i've driven through a lot of minor cloudbursts and drizzling rain without a drop.

i would only drive in rain with the top down if it was already down. no sense in pulling over just to put it up. heavy rain.... that depends on the definition but i dont think its a good idea to be going 70 mph in rain that the wipers can't keep up with.

I removed the speed sensor wire, so I just slow down to 25mph and put it up while rolling.

My own experience has shown that if you bring the window down about 2 inches, it will disrupt the airflow enough to where the water wont track much up the glass, but will just spit off the a-pillar. It will still get you a little bit, but nothing like if you have it up (spraying into you from the top edge) or down (spitting at you from the pillar)

Take it for what it's worth.
Sounds like a good idea. I will try this next time. Thanks!

By the way; I think S feels stable in the rain; provided that you have tires with good wet traction and hydroplane resistance and enough threads left. VSA is good for peace of mind as well.
