top down in rain
Happened to me just last Friday. Driving along the freeway, the rain started to drizzle and got heavier and heavier. I had the windows up and was tooling along dry as could be. Then it started to get the splatter over the side windows, but I had a towel under the seat and a quick wipe every so often kept me dry enough. That is, until the other drivers decided conditions were bad enough they slowed to about 30...

I keep a towel in-cabin when it looks cloudy. There's a fun kind of pucker factor though when you start seeing brake lights ahead of you...
Driving on the motorway at 90kmh witht he windows and roof down. Raining hard enough to have the wipers on the highest setting. My hair got a little wet, and some water dribbled off the side of the windscreen onto my outside knee.
I got more wet in the time it took to stop when I got off the motorway and put the roof on, then I did when travelling along.
Just watch out for passing trucks that spray a lot of water up.

The thing I hate more than getting a little wet is that the water tends to run down the windows onto the door and speakers. I put my top up the last time this happened because I didn't want my speakers to get ruined.

Aerodynamics says the water will come in the cabin due to air turbulence the way it circles back around and as it comes up over the windshield. been there done that, never again.
It's not about the rainwater going over your head. It's about the rainwater that drips off of side of windshield and side windows where at the same time the centre console and secret compartment cover stay dry.
If its not raining too hard the water will fly over your head and the interior will stay almost completely dry, but when you come to a stop it is a different story
. I have gotten caught in a few rain storms when I had the top down and the first time I was amazed at how I didn't get wet. It is pretty cool and the looks that you get from people when it is raining is priceless.

It's true for the most part. While I have gotten a little bit wet, most of the time its been just a few drops. And yes I'm talking about a lot of rain. Like someone mentioned... worth it just for the stares that you get from everybody!
