Top down theory...
I decided to started this thread after reading a similar one... I love the look and quietness of the hardtop but can't justify the stupid amount of money + inconvenience involved when you want to go topless.
Then again, I don't drive top up. Unless its absolutly pouring out and I can't go fast enough to avoid it, the top is DOWN. The S2000 is just TOO DAMN SEXY to drive with the ragtop up, so...
I have a theory based on my ownership of the car: Most ugly/self conscious people don't like convertibles and/or top down. They don't want attention, they don't like to be seen. I understand - no one wants to leave the house on a bad day... but I get it a lot from co workers and high maintenence members of the fairer sex who ride in my car. Whether its the uneasy look when I pull the roof switch back, or a remark about the hair, or the sun, the wind noise, or whatever - for some folks there is AlWAYS a reason
. Noone is that cushy that a 5 minute ride is going to kill them.
So, anyone else notice this? What are your thoughts?

I don't do it that often because I hate the heat, and during the day time it's just to hot
85F w/ the sun shining on you is sweat city... My house is A/C'd to 72F and I'm not about to jump outside and have to sweat in my car and then get out and go meet people stinky and wet.
At NIGHT though, +1 top down

I say if you claim to be NOT ugly, you HAVE to post a pic of yourself. If you don't, it will automatically be assumed that you ARE ugly.
I admit I'm ugly and am not going to post a pic.
BTW, since the day I installed my hardtop, I have not driven topless.

I use to top down all the time, but I'm getting way too much tan. I do it once in a while now.
But man, it's so clastrophobic with the top up. can't see out that much and opening the windows don't do too much to cool the interior down.
I haven't seen one ugly person in a convertible yet, so maybe they just don't buy one from the get go. i don't know.

yeah, I happen to find our cars a test bed of the personality of a girl on a date. When we get in my car and it's not raining, snowing or freezing(day or night), I immediately begin unlatching the roof.
As I begin to toggle the roof button, I then read their expression. If she begins to whine about her hair and being too hot outside, it's a clear sign that she would be high maintenance and it just wouldn't work, better luck next time. If she lights up with glee and rejoyces the removal of the roof, you may have a winnar!
