Default top is getting stuck

I've noticed that my top is getting stuck when I try to put it down. It folds back but then stops before it goes below the level of the wind deflector. I then bring it back up half way and back down again - this usually does the trick.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've tried looking but can't see where the top is getting hung up.

Thanks,
Dave

There's a support bar that's supposed to fold back - when I've seen tops not go down all the way, it's because that bar folds towards the front. It's because the elastic straps loose their elasticity and can't pull the bar into its proper position.

Mine's done that too. Except I was just being a dumb ass and tried to put the top down with my 7/8 wind deflector folded back.

Check the latches and see if it is getting lose. That's what happened to me a couple of months ago, Driver side latches came lose and was holding the top before it folds, it actually scratched the top right behind the latches. Nasty... it eventually broke off and I had to take back to the dealer... got latch and top replaced under warrenty though.

Ditto. My first top never had that problem but my new top does. Annoying but no big deal, I just keep an eye on it and give the support a little push when needed.

Exact problem I had as well.. just push that bar down once you begin to put the top down so it folds all the way down

Cool, I'll give that a try. So I guess there's nothing I could do other than keep an eye on the support bar? Would this be covered under warranty?

Thanks,

Dave

It should be covered under warranty, but unless you have an extended one, I think you're SOL...

However, somebody (don't remember who, sorry) sells elastic band replacement kits.

I have the 7 yr, 100k mile warranty. I would like to check out the elastic band kits though, was it someone on this forum?
