For people who don't know - this is what the S2000 is geared to do in each gear if you take it to 9k (despite what the speedo sais).

 

David: do you have the conversion to mph figures? good to know so you don't over rev when down shifting

 

Going by 1km = 1.625miles:

 

Here is the maximum speed for each gear based on DavidM's post and 1 mile = 1.609 km.
1 mile = 1.609 km
1st - 69km/h = 42.9 m/h
2nd - 105km/h = 65.3 m/h
3rd - 144km/h = 89.5 m/h
4th - 186km/h = 115.6 m/h
5th - 223km/h = 138.6 m/h
6th - 266km/h = 165.3 m/h


Here is the recommended shift speed and rpm calculated from the table on page 134 of the MY2001 USA/Canada owner's manual and using proportions from the above table.

1st to 2nd.....15mph 3146 rpm
2nd to 3rd.....25mph 3445 rpm
3rd to 4th.....40mph 4022 rpm
4th to 5th.....47mph 3659 rpm
5th to 6th.....52mph 3376 rpm

Funny. Why doesn't Honda just say "shift at 3500 rpm?"

 

I'm sure everyone here is inetreste din the gearing of BoxterS ( :-) ) so here are the numbers:

BoxterS speed at 7200 revs:
1st = 63km/h
2nd = 109km/h
3rd = 159km/h
4th = 198km/h
5th = 237km/h
6th = 287km/h
------------

 

I thought 1 km= about .62 miles; for instance, 266 kph=164 mph.

 

Of course you know that at 9000rpm your in the "RED". Of course if it was RED it would go faster!

It's usually slightly more in each gear if you properly break in your stook.
I see those max a lot in the first 3 gears.
