Torn tops
On the "other site" there is a poll being conducted regarding torn tops, maybe if enough us respond and take the poll we can get Honda to do something to fix the defective design of the convertible top....like maybe a FACTORY RECALL
The link to the survey is in the 1st post to this link: http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=38946

Yes it is a wear item, because they didn't reinforce the areas that the top mechanism contacts during operation of the top.
Most other convertible makers have extra material where the top is in contact with the mechanism, called "pads".
So I disagree with the term "wear item", it is only a "wear item" due to the poor design of the top which Honda could address by retrofitting the tops with "pads". The TSB does not even address the wear caused by the middle bow, which has caused many tears in S2000 tops, a 6 inch long "pad" on the top where the middle bow rubs against the top would prevent this non TSB covered tear.

Just fixed a hole in my top, noticed it almost instantly and you could only see an outline on the outside but it was torn on the outside. Sewed it up a bit, then glued it with J.B. Weld all purpose because it says its for Vinyl as well. Waiting for my as seen on TV paint to come No clue why this guy removed the stitching because you won't see it under glue/paint and it reinforces the tear so it won't reopen.

Not looking for anything pretty, just a $15 fix to my $800 problem. I figure sooner or later someone will tear my top and then I'll justify buying a brand new top instead of now :S.
