Default Torque Steer?

So I picked up my car from the paint shop the other day and pull into the road. As I accelerate into traffic my car pulls HARD to the right under acceleration! My last car was a scion tC and it torque steered like a BIACH...But that was a front wheel drive, I never heard of a torque steering rear wheel drive.

I get onto the expressway and find out that deaccelleration causes the opposite effect, it pulls severely to the left??? And talk about squirlly! Going strait is not what this car wants to do.

But wait, so what would make my car do that????

I know

When I got home I checked the tires. Yup, on one side of the car the 255 was on the front and the 215 was on the back! I took it to the garage today and once I got it on the lift the I removed the rear as expected, but the front was the SUCK. The front hub is a different size and with the hub ring on the wrong wheel the wheel did NOT want to come off. I had to hammer out the hub ring from the rear wheel once it came off too.

Anyways, I moved the wheels to thier correct places with the correct hub rings and all is fine now.

the end.

Nice monkeys they got there at the body shop.

The "typical" cause of shifting from side-to-side during acceleration/decelleration is tire pressure...............not usually tire SIZE.

That is ridiculous. Go slap them around for a little while! They should all be out of jobs!

Well I think you answered your own question about torque steer. No there isn't any in a RWD vehicle. But.. if your tires are different dimensions left to right that would cause some problems...

great story vito!

i was so anxious all last weekend because i saw an AP1 suzuka in an accident and the wheels looked just like mine (no one else has those wheels). i couldn't get a good enough glimpse cause i passed it at like 80mph on the highway in moderate traffic. i was so relieved when i showed up at the shop unexpectedly and saw my car in one piece.
