Default Totally clueless

Hi guys, new member here.

Long story short, my life went off track and I became a bum doing nothing. Now with guidance from my lovely parents I'm back at uni and succeeding which has led to....

My parents agreeing to buy me a S2K as a well done present

It will be my daily car as my Fiesta Zetec S isn't very practical right now with 2 seats and carrying 500kg of audio equipment.

Now I am totally clueless when it comes to these cars but I am totally in love with them aesthetically.

I had a few questions about them which I hope can be answered.

1. Are high mileage ones a no-no ? I.E 100k+

2. Economy wise driven sensibly what is it like ?

3. Major fixes/known issues with pre 03 models ?

4. Any advice in general ?

Look forward to hearing from you guys

Thanks

So

You know the S2000 has 2 seats and a small trunk, right?

The two seater aspect is fine.

Its the fact that Im pulling so much weight on my daily commute, with no storage space whatsoever.

Look at the FAQ's for known issues. Mileage may vary, but I get 21-27 on the street and 10 at the track.

1. If the car has been taken care of than going over 100k should not be an issue. These motors can last a long time if they are not abused.

2.Economy wise is not that great. From what i see from myself as well as others expect as low as 17 and lucky if you can get close to 30.

3. I am not an ap1 owner but there are tons of information on here that can answer this question.

4. This car isnthe fastest but is amazingly fun to drove. take care of it and good luck!!!

Just like any other car, it depends on how the previous owner took care of the car. Watch out for boosted cars that were returned back to stock.

2. Economy wise driven sensibly what is it like ?
If the car is in good condition, you should get 24+ mpg in mix city/hwy driving.

3. Major fixes/known issues with pre 03 models ?
See first answer. Look out for rips in the softtop.

4. Any advice in general ?

Not a very practical car. The only cars less practical are older Miatas and Toyota MR2 Spyder.

00-01s don't have a clock. There's also the clutch buzz, no electronic traction control, 02-03 have a glass rear window from the factory. 00-01 don't have the upgraded oil banjo bolts. I believe this only matters if you track the car, or plan to go FI.

And general advice, learn and respect the car before driving aggressively.
