Tough Decisions
gives me more reasons to get that inline pro rear dif kit......lol
I don't understand why they would transfer it as a salvage title unless it was deemed salvage by the insurance company. I think what happened is your friend may have totaled out the car and then bought it back from the insurance and sold it to you. I would check with him because that sounds sketchy as heck! Salvage title lowers the overall value and even has issues with insurance, since most companies wont give you full coverage insurance.
Friend nearly totaled a car. Went through insurance for repairing it - he was at fault. When he traded the car in, it showed clean title, no accidents 6 months later!
I bought my car from a dealership thinking it was all original. The csrfax came up clean as a whistle, later on down the road I found out that the motor was swapped with a new jdm powerplant at 85k miles. The clutch and the rear main seal were changed out too. Carfax isn't really a true representation of vehicles imho, since its so easy to manipulate.
Depends on your financial situation I guess, but seems like an awful lot of work and stress for something that may theoretically cause you to lose a few grand. I'd keep it, build it and drive it like I stole it! Any chance your insurance will be cheaper with the salvage title? Might balance out if you keep it long enough. That and S2000 prices seem to be on the rise. I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist and am impressed with how much more they seem to be going for compared to a year ago.
