Default Towing a dog with an s2000?

The 'how do you carry a bike' thread got me thinking... what about dogs? I know there are people on this board with significant others that also have animals, what do you do if you want to take both on a trip? Say the dog was 50-80 pounds, not small enough to fit in someones lap for extended periods.

Is it inhumane to suggest some kind of crate/kennel on wheels or strapped to a small trailer like one that auto-xers use to carry race tires on? Say if the kennel was somewhat closed in to prevent excessive wind. Does this sound crazy? What have you guys done to carry a passenger and an animal before, aside from just strapping the leash to the bumper a-la National Lampoons "Vacation"

To somewhat justify my strange query, I got the idea from watching trucks on the highway with kennels in the back. Seems like some breeders just have permanent kennels in the beds of their trucks and haul dogs that way but I dunno. Seems like it works for them but maybe those dogs are miserable. *shrug*

I have a big rottie (approx 110 pound) when I need to take him to the vet I use another car and stick him in the back seat with a dog harness that attaches to the seatbelt.

The only suggestion I have is to use a dog harness. You do not want to have your dog unsecured in the car. Not only may it decide to distract you, but in the event of an accident you do not want the dog becoming a big heavy projectile.

I couldn't imagine my dog in the front near me. As it is he likes to try and lick me whilst I'm driving when he is in the back seat.

Perhaps you can fit the dog behind the passenger seat if it were all the way forwards?

Remove the trays behind the seats. It'll make a pass-through to the trunk. Put the dog in the trunk. Give the dog earplugs. Make sure you remove the trunk money first.

I love my poochy, but he does not go in, around, or near, my S2K. He has his own car (a '93 Toyota Tercel) and I am his chauffer when necessary.

Yep, my golden has his own Accord.

No S for him, as happy as he would be to go for a ride...
