Default Traction problems anyone?

Do you feel like your traction really suffers with cold tires? It feels like the back end wants to kick out around the turns with the least bit of gas applied. Do I need wider tires????

thanks

If you are using the OEM tires, I understand what you are talking about. They are a summer tire and the compound doesn't work very well in the cold weather. IF you can get them warmed up, they are better, but they don't warm up easily, once it gets much below 50 or so. Do you still have much tread on them?

I don't think that a wider tire will help as much as a tire with a different compound, one that was made for cold weather (snow tire) or an all-season design. I have some Dunlop snow tires on mine and they have pretty good grip, all things considered. They also do quite well in the snow.

Hope that this helps,
Bob

Make sure you have proper pressure in them. In the winter I add a few extra PSI over recommended as the tires don't have a chance to heat up to operating temp.

It seems that alot of people use Bridgestone Blizzaks with good results? Do a search for winter tires and all will be better. In the meantime, be careful on those stock tires.

No, just warmer days.

I feel the same thing until the tires warm up.

Its 66 degrees here today, I'm thinking of changing to a cool weather tire.
Any cooler I might have to travel with the top up
