Default Trade Civic Si for S2000?

I'm new here, my name is Anthony. I have a 2011 Civic Si Sedan(CBP FA5). I'm almost 17 and I paid for half of it myself. I am not allowed to mod it whatsoever. It has 7k miles on it and I'm wondering if I should trade it in for an S2K. I live in south florida and an S2K meets my needs. I want a 2 seater and more of a driver's/pure car, especially rwd. I would get an AP2 with around 40-50k on it.This car will be autocrossed very often. How my driving will be affected is probably the biggest factor in my decision, as I'm not experienced. I'd like people who have had both Si's and S2K's as well as autocrossers to chime in here please. Would I be better off keeping my Si or getting an S? Thanks!!!

THe Si is a good G Stock car, and is a perfect car to learn on. Considering it is slower it will be easier to learn with. Also, you will lose a TON of money getting rid of it. I'd keep the Si for now. (coming from an avid autoxer and previous RSX-S owner). Also the Si is cheaper to maintain and more fuel efficient.

Further the Si is a good G Stock car stock, whereas the S2k really needs a bigger front bar, and the Si can fit 4 r-comps and a weekend worth of stuff in the car at once which will be nice down the line, the S you need a tire trailer or something if you want to carry R-comps.

I'd say keep and enjoy the Si. It is a brand new car vs a who knows how used and abused that AP2 would be. Besides, it is half paid so enjoy the hell out of the Si, it is a VERY good and versatile car.

as far as driving skill goes the s2000 requires alot more skill. hone your skills with a fwd platform like your si and once you are very confident with your skills you can move to an AP2

The only reason i was thinking S2K might help my driving is due to RWD. And actually I got the si for 23k OTD and I've been seeing them list around the area at 24-25k, obviously not trade in value lol but w/e. I found a BB 05 AP2 with 48k @ 17.5k, which would leave me enough to cover gas, insurance, and maintenance for the next few years. If not, I'm willing to lose 2k, no more. I wont be using R-comps, just my DD summer tires. And i could sneak a front sway bar by my dad haha, plus my uncle sells eibach's stuff.

Yes it is and Ive been driving for a year, plus my permit which i actually drove a very fast car fairly often. I am thrilled, i love it so much, but idk i kinda want rwd and the 2 seater considering i hate giving rides and im taking my car to college. Plus, i think id keep the s2k longer.

I had a 2006 Si (full HFP lip kit,HFP suspension, HFP brakes, I/H/E, and a few other mods) I really liked the car, but always wanted an S. So one day while at the Honda dealership, getting an oil filter, I noticed an older man trading in an AP1. Long story short, I now own that AP1 and LOVE IT!

I've always wanted an S too lol ive loved these cars since i was like 10(I didnt get one in the first place because i wasnt allowed a 2 seater, now i am). I kinda cant do exactly what i want with my money either, but what was it like switching over?

My last car wasn't a Civic, it was a Spec V Sentra. Kind of similar background.

I learned how to drive quickly on the Spec and honestly it was a terrific car to learn on. I have a funny feeling I know where you're coming from here. Like you've felt like you had enough rope to hang yourself before, but maybe you've grown a bit taller, right?

When I had the Spec I was lucky enough to get some track time in some friend's cars. I drove 350zs, Miatas, a pretty much race spec MR2(FUN!), even a Viper-- All at the limit around a track.

This year I took my 07 AP2 to the track and put it into the wall. It is my only car and DD.

It seems like you have sense enough to know that an F1 driver in your car could probably smoke you in a modded S2000. I'm not saying you should wait to get Michael Schumacher good before you upgrade, but what's the hurry?

The S2000 will be the same car in 2012 as it is in 2011 and you can save some money (or spend it on girls (or guys if you're a girl)).

The S2K is a great car. It's just that if a 16-18 year old me came to the future asking this question, I'd say you should hold off a bit.

Id keep the Si for now. I had my Tc for about 3 years and it helped me learn a lot, and looking back at it i'm happy i didn't get a s2000 for a first car.
