Trade in for DD, or buy additional track car?
So for anyone that saw my last thread, I ended up losing the auction for the theft salvaged s2000. It went for double what you guys suggested.
Anyway...before seeing that salvaged car, I was hoping to trade my 2008 GLI for a low milage AP2 s2000.
After thinking about it though, I really like the prospect of having an s2000 I can bring to a track without having to worry too much. Something I can mod because I'm not afraid of voiding my warranty. So, now I'm looking for a higher mileage (<75,000) AP1 that I can get for cheap-ish (<$10,000). I'm thinking if I go this route, I won't need to take such a massive hit on the GLI.
Does that make sense? Or am I crazy?

Makes complete sense.
Have a reliable, comfy, boring daily along with a weekend toy that doesn't have to run every Monday.
You can definitely find an S for less than 10k. Hell, when i was looking for one, i came across someone pretty desperate willing to let it go for 7.5k... Granted, it wasnt the cleanest, but it had a clean title, strong motor, smooth n quiet tranny; only downer it had rear 1/4 panel damage but nothing serious or anything that couldnt get fixed.

That sounds like exactly what I want. Hopefully in this economy, I'll come across another example.

I'm gonna try and get a loan tomorrow. The bank will probably laugh at me.
I have an unusually high income for a young kid. I'm looking to do 6,000 over two years. I know I can afford it, but it'll be tough convincing the bank.
Anyone have any tips? I'm gonna go in with my 1099 from last year, a report card, and perhaps a letter of recommendation. That, in addition to looking at my bank statements and some slick talking will hopefully be enough.

At some point I was looking to import a second S2000 from abroad without custom clearance as a commercial car (cheapest way to import it), and have it only for track use. I mean to be transfered with trailer and never be able to drive it to the streets. Pure racing. This might be implemented in the future as my time is limited.
However, I track my S2000 every week or two and keeps me happy and excited!
