hey, i just sold my 01 prelude SH for an used 01 S2000. My prelude was completely stock. I love that car, but nothing compares to the 9k redline. The S2000 is not for everyone though. It's like driving a go-cart everyday. One thing is really amazing about the car is I get alot of looks and compliments considering this car isn't really expensive. I think its because the car is not practical. hehe

Here's my list of differences when compared to the PRELUDE.

Good side of the S2000
1. faster engine!!!!
2. leather seats.
3. I LOVE THE HID.
4. short shifter
5. better handling
6. start button.
7. easy access to the oil filter.
8. sometimes, the convertible.
9. my insurance was cheaper, but i think it's because its a used car.
10. Lastly, this forum rocks!!! The prelude forum sucks...
I may miss some other features, so feel me in anybody.

Bad side of the S2000
1. mantience requires for the S2000. (because this is a high performance engine, you want to do everything, and only buy the best). i.e. mobil 1
2. convertible, which i don't really care for. That's why I'm getting a hardtop.
3. no back seats.
4. You can even can't recline your seat.
5. tight leg room for both driver & passenger. (i'm only 5'10", and i feel tight in the car)
6. gas milege.
7. major blind spot whent the top is up.
8. Every rice rockets out there wants to race you.

Do buy the 2002 model. It's worth it if you can afford it. However, the port lock out on the west coast is causing a problem on shipment. So the best i heard of in LA is -500 of mrsp.

BTW, do not trade the prelude to the dealer. I'd rather hook up some kid on the street.

PM me if you want more info.

Goodluck,
Joe

Hey im in the same situation. I gots an 01 Prelude SH and im really considering trading in the Lude for an 03 Yellow S2k.
I went to the dealer and they offered me 16.000 for my lude not bad though since i got it for 23.500 and its been used and abused for left to right and top to bottom. just waiting till April of 2003 to get my S2k so expect the trade in to be somewhere around 15.000~17.000 depending on condition.

I traded my 99 lude for 02 s2000. Dont even miss the lude one bit. But my s2000 is not my "daily driver." I have another car, so it made my choice easier. If you have to drive it long distance it might be rough. other than that, i love my S and if you love you lude, you will enjoy the S 10 times as much.

Hmm......never drove a Prelude, but I'm sure it's a great car. I'm pretty sure you'll have a lot of fun with the S2000 - most people do. However, you should weigh out the differences. You'll obviously lose the practicality that your Prelude offered, but you'll gain many things, most of which are mentioned above. Go out and test drive an S2000, if you haven't already. I test drove an S2000 for the first time at the dealership, and drove one out a few hours later. Good luck!

I sold my 01 prelude SH to my buddy for $20k with 20k miles. I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not.

If you want more money for your Prelude, don't trade it in - sell it out right. If your in a hurry to get the S, the fastest way is trading in your car.
You sound anxious. Maybe you should just take it easy and take your time. Sometimes, when you rush into something, it can be very expensive.

I don't think u should find any trouble finding a new one at invoice or maybe even below it.
