is this trade worth it? 2002 s2000 for 97 nsx t-top with 40k miles?
I am looking at a 97 Acura NSX with 40k miles with quad exhaust and HKS intake. The car is mint condition. Yellow with black interior. The trade would be approximately my car plus another 15-16k to get into the 97 NSX. Is it worth the price difference? I know the shape is a little outdated, but isn't this car suppose to be the bomb??
Please advise.

Personally, I don't think 15K on top of a brand new S2000 is worth it, but I don't have the respect for the NSX that others do. < I have a Z06 in my dreams >
really, nsx have serious issues. I thought those were the early years. anyway, will join nsxprime and find out the dirt on it.
the only thing holding me back is it's a 97 model. Quiet old. If I don't get it then perhaps i will just mod the s2000 and enjoy.
Thanks for your opinion.

S2K+15K is roughly equivilent to $41K. Thats a pretty good deal on a '97 NSX with 40K miles.
I think I'd bite. I'd check the cars carfax, then have it inspected for body damage and repainting, then have the cylinders compression tested. If all checks out, its not a bad deal.
You might find better though... check out edmunds.com and lookup the TMV resale value on a 97 NSX before you do anything.

For some reason I see no sense at all in paying close to $40k for a 6 year old car.
The NSX is a great looking ride but I have never been able to justify the price tag for a new one. The thing may handle like a race car but there is nowhere near enough power output to warrant $90k.

Sit in one (low to the ground and panoramic view of the road rushing right up to your windshield) then drive it (sounds like a turbine jet engine right in the back of your head). Very inspirational car for me at least. Sensational feeling having the engine to the rear of your sitting position than in front of you. Bullseye design concept that is why it has not changed over ten years.

I've driven a 98 yellow NSX T numerous times, and have ridden in one for a few thousand miles (road trip) - and let me say - the s2k is an awesome car- but the NSX is still my dream.
The NSX-T is a complete upgrade in my mind. The 97+ are low 13 second cars that will do 170 mph, are mid-engine, and with over ten years of refinenement and perfection. In addition, they look AMAZING imho and much sexier than the S2k. The car has more low-end torque due to the 3.2l V6 and once in VTEC it screams. Reliability - the engine is bulletproof, it has been refined and the "bugs worked out" for the last ten years. The transmission, is 10X smoother than the S2ks. My s2k transmission envies the transmission which the NSX has - it's that jealous.
I've raced from 60-120 and I get beat by about 1-2.5 car lengths, however, from 120+, it's over for me - the aerodynamics and the stability at, literally 170 mph is something that very few cars can demonstrate.
The interior is based off the F1 allowing all controls to be in reach and a very good 240 degree or so vision.
Find someone in your area and go for a test-drive - NSX owners are generally friendlyindividuals. Check out nsxprime.com or nsxsc.com, make a post stating where you live and someone should contact you. I've seen it happen on the boards so don't be afraid.
Good luck with your purchase - and have it checked out by a NSX-owner knowledgable in your arear if you are very serious about the purchase.
Everyone thanks for the input. I will have some very hard decision ahead of me. I really like NSX and have liked it ever since i was a kid. I have my job interview on monday. wish me luck! If all works out well then I might just very well be driving the beast.
