I know a few people who have gone down that road before. It is not worth the time, effort and stress, at least to me.

All I hear is 350 owners bitching about their cars!
"All you hear"??? You must have selective hearing. I have heard plenty of complaints on this site over the years, enough to scare off many potential buyers.

How about a few of these comments from my350z.com
"Former S2k owner here as well. I think the S2000 handled better and would probably be more fun as a track car. The Z however is 10,000,000,000,000x nicer as a daily driver and feels like a higher class of car b/c of its power and amenities. S2ks are fun, but I feel a little overpriced for what you get. The Z also has more luggage space and more distinctive styling - I liked the S2k, but it was pretty bland. Oh yeah, the Z has a nicer ride as well."

"I seriously considered the S2K. I test drove it and found it to be a lot of fun to drive. What I didn't like about the S2K is that you really need to rev the engine to get some decent power, but that's how it's built. I didn't like the layout of the cockpit. I hated everything being off centered to the drivers side. I like the more balance look and feel of my Z's interior. The seats in the S2K is better than the Z's. I thought it hugged your body better and it held you in place when cornering. The ride is sweeter in the Z and the power is no comparison. I have no regrets about buying the Z, but if I had chose the S2K, I would have also bought the hardtop for it."

"I have a 2003 S2000. I came very close to buying a hardtop Z. The s2k is a raw sports car. The Z is more of a tourer. If I had to do it all over again I'd get the 350z because the S2k is JUST NOT A PRACTICAL daily driver. I need more cockpit room and more luggage space. The 350z is like a honda prelude. Its a sporty 2 door car, but you dont have any problems or inconveniences as having it as your only car. Not so with the s2k."

Nope no problems which is a reason why I picked the s2k. I did alot of car researching on websites, forums, magazines etc and all I found was A+ reliability for the s2k even the 2000 year

It's amazing how some people have issues with tranny's and other mechanical components while others motor on with no issues at all. As far as I'm concerned the S2K represents the definition of a modern day "purpose built sport car". Sure it's not as quite as a 350Z, the stereo's hard to hear, older cars have light wieght convertable tops with plastic windows, and the driveline is not designed to withstand high torque loads. However the thing handles like on rails and can put big grins on most drivers faces. For those of you who find yourself focusing on TSB's and driveline noises and also find your car in the shop more times than not perhaps the S2K is just not the right car for you. Enjoy your 350Z.

Congrats on the new car purchase...I'm sure you will love it.

I completely agree with you on practicality. The S2000, IMO, sucks as a daily driver.

This guy is in for a rude awakening. If he thought his S was full of problems, wait until you have had the Z for a year. As for Nissan fixing things...not happening! Yes they replace the tires because of feathering, but new tires don't fix the problem. Neither do new alignments. I was also trying to decide between these same two cars and went with the S because of all the Z issues. Not to mention that I drove a used Z (1 year old with 9000 miles) and it had more sqeaks and rattles than my beater 97 Pontiac Sunfire!!!

I've noticed that some S2000s have more problems than others. Some are almost problem-free while others have lots of problems.
