i don't know about the S but manual transmissions do tend to vibrate a little. if the shifter is vibrating a lot, just put it into gear with the engine off and see if there is any free play (like move it left and right and see how much it moves when in gear) if it's too much then you might need to replace the shifter but i think it's a pretty normal thing.

It's pretty normal for the gear shift lever vibrate a lot in the s2k.

Is your actual transmission vibrating more than normal, or are you talking about the shift knob rattling and vibrating?

My guess would be that his shiftknob is vibrating.
I wondered the same thing when i first picked up my S2K. it's vibrating more then a lot of other cars. not extensively though.

If it's under deceleration, it's gear backlash, a normal S2000 thing: Tranny vibration TSB

Newer S2000's have clutch springs that dampen the vibration much better, but it is still possible to get newer S2k's to vibrate as springs aren't always consistent. Also, if the clutch is replaced with an aftermarket one vibrations can be more noticeable.

Just another nuissance of driving a lightweight, poorly insulated roadster.
