Default Tranny oil change

I'm of the mindset that oil is oil, and just change it often. I've changed my diff with Mobil 1, but hadn't done the transmission yet. Just hit 21k miles and figured it was overdue. But rather than buying the Honda stuff, per advice of many here, purchased the GM SM FM stuff. Easy to do the change, and happy with the results.

Previously, tranny was very notchy when cold, and not all that much better when warm. Recently drove a friends '07 Boxster and it felt so smooth...figured I had to try this.

Just took a drive from cold, (it's low 50's outside) and not a notch to be found cold or hot. Even downshifting from 2 to 1 was smooth, where it would normally not like to do the shift at all or it would grind.

The other big surprise is that since new, I've had some gear noise in 5th and sixth that was quite noticeable at lower revs. Not a horrible noise, but a droning sound that got annoying up freeway grades at time. It's gone. I lugged the thing up some hills, which typically was the worst condition, and it's quiet.

Now I'm a believer....better oil can make a difference. Hope this lasts, but once it acts up, and couple of fresh quarts are going in asap.

Highly recommended and thanks to the various people on the board that do the experimentation with the different brands out there.

Mark

That's what I use as well and shifting has been super smooth ever since...
Good stuff and not terribly expensive IMO...

I use the GM stuff too and I don't get the 2nd gear grind anymore. And in my other cars, it took away the notchiness too.
