Default Transmission feels "dry"

My dad just bought an MY01 (I'm buying an MY00 in a couple weeks) and when I shift it feels like the transmission is dry, in my EK when I shift it's somewhat smooth but in the S it feels (and sounds) very rough.

Is this just a charactaristic of the car or should I get the transmission fluid checked?

Do you have the service record history for the car? If so, check to see if the tranny and differential fluids were ever changed.

How many miles on the MY01?

A lot of owner change their fluids very early on after a short break-in period. There are a lot of options out there for an upgrade in fluids. Honda recommends only using their MTF, and it does work fine. Personally I use the Redline MT-90 (you can find it in the s2ki marketplace).

Doing your own fluid changes is not very hard, there are several write-ups in the Under The Hood section, do a search for them if you are interested.

And, welcome aboard!
