Default Transmission GONE!

So i was leaving the Sonic near my house the other night. I was not giving it full throttle, just moderate acceleration. I shifted from 1st to 2nd and out of no ever comes this HORRIBLE Grinding/clunking/metal going everywhere noise! i put it back into neutral and it stopped. tried going back into 2nd and as soon as i let the clutch out there was the noise again and it wasnt going anywhere.

I coasted right into a shell station and called a tow truck. The tow truck driver was pretty bad ass.. he had some 2x4's as not to scrape the crap out of my front bumper and then went on to tell me about his Dodge Viper (found out he was the owner and just enjoyed doing the manual labor). I dropped my car off at the closest dealership and went back up there the next morning.

Today they took everything apart. Of course, the whole time i am fearing that i will be paying at least $1,000 to get it repaired. I also thought that it was my flywheel that had backed off (Fidanza).

They called me a couple hours ago and said that it was my transmission... 2nd gear completely broke and fubared Everything in the transmission. There was not one moving part in the tranny that did not have catastrophic damage to it. Then they went on to tell me that the new tranny+ labor is around $6k. i bout cried....
BUT come to find out...... im getting everything for FREE!!! my car was supposed to be out of warranty but due to some class action lawsuit that went down a while ago, Honda extended everyones warranty by 5%. This i did not know. i have 36,800 miles on my car and the "extended" warranty was to be up at 37,000 miles!!

I must say.... I am SOOOOO glad my transmission decided to poop out when it did.

Ok thats my story... enjoy

Nice, good thing you're still under warranty and props to the dealership for not blaming your Mod. I actually had a oil seal replaced a few weeks ago which barely made warranty as well.

Wished that happened with my engine blowing, darn you have been touched by an angel though, it should be back on it's feet after surgery and then go play again.

is this just something really unfortunate or is it due to not changing transmission oil?
