While driving yesterday, I noticed that the whole console that sits on top of the transmission was pretty warm. You could feel heat coming from my cupholder. Also, the carpet that lines the transmission "tunnel" was quite warm. I was kind of freaked out.

Is this normal? The weather is hot these days in San Jose (~100F).

I had my transmission fluid replaced at the Honda dealer two weeks ago, could it have something to do with it?

That is normal when you drive with the top down on a hot day. Notice that if you drive with the top up, the center tunnel does not get that warm.

nah, its pretty normal. The sun contributes some of the heat, and the tranny itself does get warm as well. No worries....and yes, it has been rather warm here in SJ these days.

FYI that's why the cup-holder is known as a "beverage warmer" by some.....

The only thing I miss about San Jose is the diversity of restaurants and the "milder" summers. I wish it would only be around 100F today in the Sacramento area. It's supposed to get to 112F!!!!!! It was 109F yesterday. At least El Dorado Hills is about 5 degrees cooler than Sacramento. Ah, that means a mild 107F today. What a relief.

It's very normal. You get so much heat from the tranny, that I even notice that my shifter knob gets hot.

The warmest things are the bolts than hold the seats to the floor, they're burning hot!
