I have an 01 which has 9k miles. When I first drive the car in the morning it some times pops out of second gear. At first I thought the car wasn't warm enough, but a couple of of times it has popped into neutral from 3rd gear while turning around 5k RPM. Is this normal or common???? Have I missed any service announcements or recalls???
What has been done to improve the transmission in the 02????

All I can say is I know it isn't normal. And I don't think it is common. Call your dealer. There may be a TSB on it.

 

I had a similiar problem with my '96 Cobra. It would pop out of second gear. I think it was caused by a bent shift fork. Ford replaced the transmission under warranty for me. I would hope that Honda support would be as good.
