My trim piece around the shift boot is showing its age. The metal flake is coming off and it doesn't look very good. I tried to order the part from Honda but they wanted $230 for a whole new console.


Where do you get one of these things??? I have read a thread about taking the flake off, however I prefer to just buy a new one.

I think you need "number 11" shown on the above link. It is for the whole console but it is cheaper than you have found so far. It is $159 and some change. Good luck.

 

You can remove the paint over the trim piece and its chrome underneath. You can use paint thinner and a towel to remove it.

The damage is done to show the black under the silver. I cannot just rub off the film with alcohol.

Someone has to be selling just the ring part.

 

remove console

remove ring

paint ring black

paint ring clear coat

reinstall ring

reinstall console

all is good!

Sorry, it is all part of the console. Watch eBay as they sell often for cheap.

 

on my 2000 i was able to take it apart. Honestly I don't remeber if there were bolts of if it just popped off, but I def had it off. I painted it black then hit it with clear coat.
