I find that with time it gets easier to close. Though drop it from 18 inches and progressively go higher till it closes. Remember that height and drop from there. Dont push on the hood to close it you might dent it.(remember its only aluminum)

Left the hood approx two feet above latch and drop. Each car will be different, but you will find a height or point which works best.

We all know that our daddy would be "slappin' us acros' our head" if we dropped the hood on any other car. You just got to get used to doing it the way the other 2 posts mention. It get easier (on your nerves) the more you do it.

I have encountered a situation where the hood will open but it wont close. Seems I didnt full pull the release handle. Figured that out after dropping it 6 times and having it spite me each time.

Also, you could try adjusting the rubber bumpers. They don't look adjustable, but they are. Grab them with some pliers and turn clockwise. Try a quarter turn and see if that helps. I think I turned mine about 1/2 - 3/4 turn.

Whatever you do, note the words of PINKY - Do not push down on it. I know a chap who did that with his brand new S2000.

He wishes he didn't......

It should close with an 18" drop, no problem. If it doesn't the latching hardware and bumpers should be adjusted. I did this the first day my car came (it was out of adjustment) and an 18" drop works every time.
