Default Truck arrived today

Just spoke with the dealer and my 01 silverstone has arrived. I need an alarm on this vehicle for protection and because my insurance will recover the cost in a couple of years. The dealer is dicking me with a LoJack system that I do not want, just the alarm. The insurance break on the LoJack is about $30/year and the unit is $595! I live about 15 miles North of Boston. Any help is appreciated.

Picking her up tomorrow afternoon.

Just say "no" to dealer added accessories that you do not want. Was the LoJack system part of your contract? If not, tell the dealer to leave it off the car or you'll take your business elsewhere. Note - this only works if you really mean it and follow through.

Thanks CoralDoc,

I just got off the phone with the dealer and will be picking the car up stock. The reason I had to wait for delivery in the first place was that all 4 "stooks?" in stock had front, side and rear spoilers for an additional $3k. Just my opinion, but this car is beautiful without them.

I am going with an aftermarket alarm system. Got a quote from a local auto security, $385 installed. Looked at user opinions on the net and only found a few opinions (positive), but from what I see of the options, they're better than the Honda alarm (includes shock sensors, battery backup, etc.)

The dealer price for the Honda alarm alone is $695 and $895 with LoJack. LoJack alone is $595. Gotta love the dealers!!! Not sure what alarm I'll end up with, but I DO know it'll be cheaper than $695.

Actually your dealer installs the LoJack system for HIS protection. If he guarantees his insurer that all the cars on the lot are secure ....he gets a very large discount! A dealer that loses even one car can cost the insurer a bundle. Tell him you understand his need to protect his inventory and offer to pay for install only. After-all having a LoJack is a very good benefit......IMHO.
