Is it true that next year or in the near future, That Honda will start making 8,000 Honda S2000 a year?

If anyone knows if this is true please let me know! My father is telling me that's what's going to happen and I don't know if I can trust him. hehe

It just went up to 5,000 units this year in the US. They make more than 8,000 worldwide already.

The first two model years were 2,500 to 3,000 in the US.

I believe they've built about 10,000 each year but only about 4-5,000 have been delivered to the US each year.

There was a thread on this before, the US was supposed to get around 5,000 per year, but I *think* the acutal numbers were around 7,000+ per year sold. See this thread for starters: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=38721

The numbers are published.. over 8K a year in the US, over 15K worldwide. That 5K number is from a very old press release that has never been accurate but you know how the press can be.

www.hondanews.com

It shows sales figures for all models. They sell 8000+ each year, have done so since it was introduced.

Numbers from Honda:

2001: 9682 S2000's sold by American Honda (that's US, and does not include Canada, correct?)
2000: 6797 S2000's sold

Those are calendar years, not model years. Previously I posted numbers (again straight from Honda) that indicated MY numbers of the following:

2001: 9469
2000: 7940 (calculated from the above number and a quote of a 19.2% increase from '00)

As to the future, who knows? If they do, they aren't telling.
