True Facts about the S2K
(I am bored, sitting here drinking tea.... and this came to mind
1) The S2K isn't a dragster. Its not a 1/4 mile car, even if it does do decent runs. Its really a cornering car, and does so very-very well.
2) The S2K is faster than a LOT of cars out there, and slower than many-many others.
3) Some people think the S2K is ugly. Others do not. They are entitled to their opinions. I personally think Boxters are ugly...but what can you say, that's my opinion. I'd still take one if you gave it to me, no doubt. (Then of course, it would look good).
4) The more money you spend on your stook, the faster the dyno-butt is.
5) Black Stooks are a pain in the ass to keep clean, but look amazing when they are.
6) The general accepted top speed of the S2K is 166mph, even though some reports upto 175, I believe this to be calibration error on the speedo.
7) The S2K is also referred as a "S-Too-K" (Stook)
8) The S2K is factory rated at 240hp delivering an average of ~205hp to the rear wheels.
9) The OEM SO2 tires on the Stook are a major part of its amazing handling capabilities. They wear fast, and are horrible in the rain/snow.
10) The Yellow paint on the S2K contains some kind of pearl or other coloring making it almost impossible for body shops to match.
11) There are a number of after market products which make the S2K much "nicer". Some are junk, many are useful like Muz Mats, etc..
12) The Voodoo shift knob is one of the best bang-for-the-buck mod you'll make to your stook, making the shift-throw much shorter (if thats conceivable) for around ~25 usd.
13) The S2K is reported to not have much torque...this is because torque is measured at the flywheel rather than the rear-wheels. The gearing on the S2K makes for plenty of torque at the REAR wheels.
14) There isn't a "secret compartment" to the S2K...the top of the glove box opens. That's the secret.
15) Few if any mods give the S2K any additional horsepower other than some kind of forced induction or nitrous. This ALSO means that K&N (or whatever filter), EXHAUST, ETC... do next to NOTHING for HP. If you are looking for HP, to-date there are only 2 ways... SC/Turbo or Nitrous.
16) The reason the windowsils on the s2k are so high is part of the "X" frame design and aid in giving the convertible much of its regidity. (Reference a shoe box w/out a top on it)
17) The redline on the S2K is ~9000rpm. It has a rev-limiter, and bouncing off it does NOT hurt the vehicle. Downshifting into a lower gear than the transmissions/engine is geared for will, however, cause serious damage (eg. Shifting into 2nd at 100mph).
18) The S2K is a rear-wheel 2 litre 4 cylinder vehicle, produced by Honda, even though "Acura" is mentioned at least 2 times in the manual.
19) IMHO, S2K owners tend to be "yuppies", with an average age of ~30 yrs old. But, this is just my opinion.
20) Zymol and Zaino are excellent waxes for the S2K, or any other vehicle for that matter.
21) The HID headlights on the S2K piss off ignorant American drivers at night causing them to flash you constantly... on the other hand, they work very well.
22) Bang-for-the-buck, the S2K is one of the fast, best handling, fastest stopping vehicle you can purchase today (again, for the price).
23) The stock S2K is one of the fastest stopping street-production vehicles around.
24) The best color on a S2K, is Black, of course....but, that's just my opinion :-)
25) The hood of the S2K is the the only aluminum exterior body piece.
26) There is a general opinion that the paint is too thin on the S2K as the hood tends to also pit/chip easily.
27) The windshield pits EASILY on the S2K.
28) The S2000 and Integra RSX are the only Hondas to have the engine run backwards.
30) The Tires themselves were made specifically for the car by Bridgestone (S02s, not the Poleposition version, the OEM version).
31) The addition of a starter button started a new trend...(even thought it's old) .
32) It has Fiber Reinforced Cylinder walls that contain ceramic.
33) At the time of this post, California seems to be the most expensive place to purchase an S2K (MSRP+Dealer Markup with an ~Average of 5k over sticker).
34) The top of the S2k is made of Vinyl.
35) The S2K is meant to be driven with the top DOWN. If its a sunny day and your top is up, you need a different car.

#25 Hood only aluminum part
Get a load of this, some idiot at one pf the Chicagoland dealers told me the whole body was aluminum. I believed him for a while then I remembered reading about the hood only. I looked it up on the internet and found an article that discussed this.
Now I am susposed to beleive that these guys at the dealers can effectivly work on my car when they know less about them then I do! Yikes

re: 13. I only lasted a semester in UT's engineering program (realized biz was much more fun), but I don't believe that gearing can multiply torque, just enable you to reach the meaty part of the powerband sooner. If that was the case, people would be dynoing their cars in first gear - when's the last time you saw that happen?
