trunk lid springs
I know that the factory spoiler comes with upgraded springs, but I need something stronger, even, than those!
I now have the factory spoiler as well as an amp mounted to the underside of the trunk lid. It used to be that it only slammed on your head on an incline, but now it does so just about anywhere. Short of propping it open, does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to make it stay open a little longer? Hydraulics? Anything?

They're not actually springs--they're rods held in place under torsion so that they tend to spring the trunk upwards when you open it. If you were like me when you had the spoiler installed and didn't actually monitor the work, and given the standard laziness of the average American worker, they probably didn't even bother to put the "springier" rods in since the trunk still lifts, just with less gusto. You may still have the old springs in there anyway. If there is a way to make sure, I'd do so. The "springier" rods may be able to heft both your spoiler and amp.

With the Fall Colors Meet roadcourse destroying my really neat plexiglass amp rack (between catching air on the course the heat and weight from the two massive amps, the rack cracked)... I need to consider new mounting locations. I though the trunk lid would be great... especially to save trunk space. I purchased a few "hydrolic hatchback lifts" (I don't know what to really call them) from an auto parts store and experimented with them... They lift A LOT of weight and with some engineering imagination could easily be mounted. I might consider them...
Also think of ther uses: they successfully lift very heavy hatchback doors + some very long heavy (steel) hoods (BMW 850 series as an example).

Shaner, mounting to the underside of the trunk lid isn't something that comes without a certain amount of frowning from the more serious car stereo freaks because of heat dissipation issues. I want every bit of useable space in my truck, so it's worth a few frowns for that. If you decide to do it, be VERY careful who you have do it, since the clearance between the braces on the trunk and the actual trunk lid itself is very very small, and one tiny slip is putting a screw through your trunk lid!
Thanks for the suggestion, and I guess I'll just go to a car stereo shop and see if they have ideas too, since I don't know where to start to do that myself and I'm sure they deal with issues like this from time to time.
