Default TSB Questions ...

Hey everyone, my car is @ the dealership as of this morning ... I'm trying to get TSB 054 and 055 taken care of (buzzing from tranny in 3rd and 4th gear & grinding 1st to 2nd gear). Anyways, I saw on the actual TSB sheet that it looks like it will take approx 12 hours or so to fix. Just wondering if I can expect to have my car back tomorrow, or would later on in the week seem more likely? I miss my baby already.
Thanks,
Dan

Doh! Dealer just called me, asked me if I wanted synthetic or dyno (getting an oil change too). I asked him about the progress and when the car would be ready ... he said probably today. I told him I thought those TSB's would take about 12 hours ballpark (or so the it says) ... and he asked me "exactly what TSB's are you talking about?" I went into further detail (054 and 055) and he said he'd need to speak with the tech working on my car and get back to me ... should I be worried?

you cant go in and just request a TSB be done. its at their descression. but as long as its actully doing whats decribed they should do it. but, they dont have to. its not a recall, its just a TSB. as for 12 hours, they will bill for like 6hr takes like 4hr IF they have the disk in stock(which mine didn't) so it took an extra day.

I know Virux, I dropped it off for an oil/filter change and requested the dealer to check it out for 054 and 055. Still no word from them. Again, just wondering how long I'll be without my S (if they do honor the TSBs), generally speaking. Is this a 1 day, 1 week or 1 month thing? Being the search I came across didn't give me a stright answer.
Thanks,
Dan

I asked my dealer about the TSB's, and their answer was that they had to actually experience the problem themselves - my say so wasn't enough.

However, I know some S2K'ers who have a really good relationship with their Honda mechanics, and they've had no problem getting the TSB's done when they reported the related problem (in other words, the mechanic believes theses guys and doesn't insist on personally experiencing the problems).

Good luck!

Service rep just called me, told me "Hey Dan, thanks for bring up these TSB's ... we didn't even know about them!" Uhhhhhh, great. "Anyways, Dan ... just wanted your permission to keep the car overnight, because we want to have a specialist road test it tomorrow because he would know exactly what to look for." I asked the rep if they had the parts in stock, to make this SOMEWHAT quicker, incase I qualify. They told me they would need to overnight them, if I qualify. This is looking to be a week if not longer project. I'm going thru S2K withdrawl ... and I think it's only gonna get worse.

At least they are doing the right thing by you. It seems that you didnt really communicate things to them too well but perhaps you're just leaving things out. If they test drive it tomorrow morning they will most likely pull the old clutch out during the day so when the nw part comes in they can just install it and give it back to you then you should have it by lunch time.

But to me it seems like they are being quite reasonable especially when you consider what other people have gone through to get the tsb done.

As Virux said 4hrs is about right provided that they know what they are doing, its just a clean clutch swap.

As for the dealer having to witness the problem themselves that is pretty fair imo for the tsb55 because it is a problem that occurs every time. This is a little difficult for the 2nd gear grind though because it isnt constant and is hard to demonstrate.

You have every right to be nervous Im sure most people on this board have suffered from the anxiety that is caused by placing the responsibility of your car in other peoples hands.

I know that my dealer didnt know about the TSB and although I had problems getting Honda Australia to do it my dealer done a great job.

When I had TSB 54 performed I only had to ask the dealer if my car needed it. They didn't even inspect the car. They asked can you leave it today? I told them I didn't have a ride home. They provided me a free rental. The next afternoon I picked it up. Prior to this I had the TSB for spark plugs performed. I asked when could they do it, they said right now we'll have it done in thirty minutes sir have a seat in our waiting room. Honda service doesn't always turn out to be horror stories. Back in June I blew up my motor at 19k miles. (#4 cylinder wall failure) they had a new short block and head installed in 4 days!!
